Cerritos EDC reschedules November meeting to Nov. 12 to avoid Veterans Day conflict

The Cerritos Economic Development Commission voted 4-0 on Sept. 9 to reschedule its regular November 2025 meeting from Tuesday, Nov. 11 (Veterans Day) to Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m.
Staff presented two options: cancel the November meeting and convene next in December, or hold a special meeting on an alternate November date. Economic Development Manager Kristen Miranda explained the regular schedule conflicts with the Veterans Day holiday and recommended a special meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, at 7 p.m. to preserve a November meeting. Commissioners debated whether to cancel or reschedule; several said the commission will soon have substantive items to address and favored keeping a November meeting.
Commissioner Carlos Togley moved to adopt the option to postpone the meeting by one day and convene Nov. 12; Chair Al Reyes seconded. A verbatim roll-call showed aye votes from Commissioners Chang, Togley, Grace Hu and Chair Reyes and the motion passed 4-0. Commissioners noted staff will update the city’s calendar and public notices once the date is posted.
The change was presented as a scheduling accommodation to maintain continuity for the newly formed commission as it prepares to review upcoming programs and initiatives.
