Sandy Acevedo of Upper Deerfield Township raised a concern during public comment that the county's broadcasts on Quinn Broadcasting (QVC/Quinn Media) include commercials that have, in her experience, played over the meeting audio during public comment. "That averages out to about $2,000 a meeting," Acevedo said, and asked whether the county should allow commercials to interrupt meeting remarks.
Acevedo said the commercials have sometimes overridden speakers and that the live audio quality has been poor. County staff said they were not aware that commercials were being played and apologized, noting the sound quality issue could be on the county side as well. A county official told her, "We will look into that," and staff committed to investigating the audio feed and vendor arrangements.
The meeting later included a closing production note stating the broadcast partner and platform information used for live streaming: "QVC broadcasts on Comcast cable channel 22 and live streams its programming on Facebook and YouTube," and identifying Quinn Media and QVC as broadcast partners.
County staff said they will review the contract or vendor arrangements and the sound feed and will report back to the public with any findings or corrective steps.
