Emergency management: USDA buyout paperwork delayed; FEMA recovery scoping meeting scheduled

Woodford County’s emergency management director told the fiscal court that paperwork for a USDA Emergency Watershed Protection buyout program contract did not reach Kentucky by midafternoon but that USDA officials had ‘‘assured us that it’s imminent.’’ The director said the delay affected immediate contract execution but not the county’s ongoing recovery work.
The director also announced a FEMA recovery scoping meeting scheduled for 10:00 the following morning in the same meeting room. The meeting will introduce stakeholders, review an event timeline and begin the documentation process FEMA requires for fiscal recovery.
The court later authorized, by motion of Squire Taylor and second of Squire Gentry, the judge executive and county attorney to review any potential USDA buyout contract on the court’s behalf and approve it contingent on their review; the court said it would forward the contract to the fiscal court after review. The motion carried unanimously.
Ending: Emergency management urged participation in the FEMA scoping meeting and indicated the USDA paperwork was expected imminently, while the court authorized interim contract review to expedite potential buyouts for eligible homeowners.
