The Town of Clinton Town Board approved multiple routine resolutions and appointments at its Sept. 9 meeting and scheduled public hearings for several items.
The board voted by voice to adopt a 2026 budget meeting schedule, to release the Duchess Reserve subdivision restoration bond, to introduce a local law to override the tax levy limit (a routine procedural step) and to proclaim October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The board also approved warrants and moved funds as presented by the supervisor.
The board introduced a proposed local law amending town code chapter 210 (taxation) related to the senior citizen exemption and the treatment of nontaxable Social Security income, and scheduled a public hearing on that proposed local law for Oct. 14, 2025, at 6:25 p.m. The board also set a public hearing for the local law to override the tax levy limit (the board noted it does not anticipate exceeding the cap).
Personnel actions approved included the appointment of a temporary court clerk, a student worker, and the appointment of a new sole assessor effective Oct. 1, 2025, replacing the retiring assessor; all appointments were approved by voice vote. The board also authorized the town attorney to settle two tax certiorari cases identified by index numbers in the attorney’s memo.
Financial approvals included the September general fund warrant (vouchers 400–440) totaling $36,948.69; the September highway fund warrant (vouchers 257–284) totaling $63,871.68; and a capital fund warrant for $1,305.00. The board approved the August 2025 supervisor’s report.
Several items were described as procedural: the release of the $25,000 restoration bond for the Duchess Reserve subdivision followed an engineer and fire chief inspection report; the override local law was introduced as an annual precaution; and the tax certiorari settlement was presented as resolved after obtaining an appraisal.
Ending: The board scheduled multiple follow-up items (public hearings, naming of a recently completed private road in the Duchess Reserve subdivision) for future meetings and closed routine business to move on to policies and committee reports.
