Dr. Bullen emphasized troubleshooting for parents will be handled directly by FirstView/First Student rather than by building principals, and he said the district intends the tool to reduce, not increase, administrative workload.
Use for activities: Board members asked whether FirstView will track activity/athletic trips. Dr. Bullen said prebuilt routes were discussed but the district had not yet decided to include athletics or activity trips in the initial rollout.
Capital projects and facilities: Dr. Bullen said contractors are ready to replace a central office roof and associated air-conditioning components; the work requires shutting down central-office AC for about five days and will be scheduled for a cool fall window. He also reported mixed quality on a recently updated high-school parking lot; the contractor has agreed to return and make repairs.
Events: Dr. Bullen noted an extra home football game — moved to Excelsior Springs after Raytown reported underground gas issues that affected their facilities — and encouraged community attendance.
Next steps: The district will continue the phased FirstView rollout, provide parent communication about use and troubleshooting, schedule the central office capital work for a cooler period, and monitor parking lot repairs.
