The Lancaster City Council approved a boulevard tree dedication plaque program that allows residents to purchase a personalized plaque to be installed on boulevard trees.
Nicole Floto, administrative assistant for parks and facilities, said the program offers a 7.5-by-4.5-inch plaque for a one-time donation of $800. The donation covers the cost of the plaque, customization, professional installation and a 10-year maintenance period that includes periodic cleaning and graffiti removal. Floto said the 10-year maintenance period begins when the plaque is installed; if a plaque becomes irreparably damaged within the 10 years the city will replace it at no charge, but the 10-year period will not reset.
All inscriptions and text are subject to city approval; staff said they will guide placement to the most appropriate boulevard site. The presentation included a sample application and promotional flyer; staff said the $800 fee reflects installation and maintenance costs.
With no public comments on the item, the council voted to approve the program by a 3-0 vote.
