During public comment, resident Irene Gravis asked Lancaster City Council to resolve a long-pending condemnation at 901 Manor Street, which she said has been under condemnation since February 2021.
Gravis said major repairs cited in the 2021 condemnation have been completed and that no full reinspection has occurred. She urged the council either to allow community volunteers to finish the remaining items from the 2021 condemnation list or have the city complete the outstanding work and bill the owner, saying the delay is preventing the property from returning to the housing market amid an affordability crisis.
Gravis named several local residents willing to volunteer on remaining items and said the city continues to issue citations at other properties while 901 Manor Street remains unresolved. The council did not take formal action during the meeting on the request; Gravis asked council to consider either permitting community completion of outstanding items or having the city complete the work at cost and re-inspect to lift the condemnation.
