Polk County School Board approves Turnaround Option Plan steps 1 and 2

The Polk County School Board voted unanimously on Sept. 9 to approve Step 1 and Step 2 of the district—all Turnaround Option Plan.
Board member Wyatt moved approval of Turnaround Option Plan Step 1; Board member Fields seconded and the motion carried without recorded opposition. For Turnaround Option Plan Step 2, Fields moved and Wyatt seconded; that motion also passed unanimously.
Superintendent Hyde and district staff had previously noted that Step 2 documents were added to the agenda packet as a revision to the posted materials. At the start of the meeting, Hyde listed seven revisions to the published agenda, including that the Step 2 turnaround documents had been added as Item U-2. The board held no extended debate on the measures during the meeting and voted to approve both steps as presented.
The approvals move the turnaround planning documents forward; the record shows the board accepted the agenda and consent items earlier in the meeting before taking action on the turnaround items.
