Select board ratifies multiple municipal appointments including recreation program coordinator

The Millis Select Board on Sept. 8 ratified a slate of municipal appointments, including the town administrator’s selection of Jeff Page as recreation program coordinator.
Mike Kaczynski, the town administrator, described the recreation program coordinator role as a 30-hour-per-week position to support programming, instructors and day-to-day operations. Chris Bogarde, Millis recreation director, introduced Jeff Page and thanked staff for the hiring process. The board voted unanimously to ratify Kaczynski’s appointment of Jeff Page pending a successful physical.
The board also appointed Christina Johnson to the recreation committee through June 30, 2026; Eric Martinson as the finance committee’s liaison to the capital planning committee through June 30, 2026; and Robson (Rob) de Oliveira as a member of the energy committee through June 30, 2026. Each motion was moved, seconded and carried unanimously.
Why it matters: The appointments fill operational and advisory roles that support municipal programs and capital planning. The recreation hires affect summer and community programming; the capital planning liaison will participate in implementation of ClearGov software; and the energy committee appointment adds a volunteer with a local address to energy planning.
Actions and conditions: The Jeff Page appointment was approved "pending completion of a successful physical," a condition the board specified applies to department hires. The capital planning liaison appointment followed a recommendation by departing liaison John Lohr and was presented as a way to involve a newer finance committee member in capital planning activities.
Ending: Officials urged residents to attend committee meetings to observe work on capital planning and recreation programming. The board congratulated the appointees and welcomed Mr. Page, Ms. Johnson, Mr. Martinson and Mr. de Oliveira to their roles.
