A Blowing Rock resident asked the Town Council on Sept. 9 to address vehicle‑pedestrian near‑misses at the intersection of Dogwood Lane and Lower Park Road, saying neighbors have signed a petition asking for town action.
Lee Roccamore, who said he lives at 300 Laurel Park Road, told council he and neighbors have had “near misses” while walking and driving at the intersection and that there is no centerline and limited sight lines from multiple directions. Roccamore said “over 65 residents” of the neighborhood had signed a petition asking the town to consider stop signs or other traffic controls.
Council indicated willingness to place the matter on the October agenda and asked staff to prepare a recommendation. The town manager and staff said they would examine whether stop signs, yield controls or striping would be appropriate and return with options and a staff recommendation.
Council did not take formal action at the Sept. 9 meeting but agreed to study the intersection and bring the item back for a decision.
