Pleasure Licks LLC, the new operator of the Pleasure Island marina, told the Port Arthur City Council on Tuesday that it discovered a sewer line from Building B that “was engineered to discharge directly into the marina,” and that raw sewage had been entering Sabine Lake for years.
At a council presentation, Salim Kralp, who identified himself as representing Pleasure Licks, described the finding and showed members photos of the property and recent community events. “We sent the plumber's camera down the pipe to trace it. What we discovered was shocking. The sewer pipe is not connected to any sewer line. It was engineered to discharge directly into the marina,” Kralp said.
