The Hurst City Council on Tuesday adopted Resolution 1895 approving a negotiated settlement between the Atmos City Steering Committee and Atmos Energy Corporation, Mid-Tex division, resolving Atmos’s 2025 rate review mechanism filing.
Clayton (staff member) told the council that Atmos originally requested a systemwide revenue increase of about $245 million, which was reduced to $225 million under the rate review mechanism and ultimately settled at $205.6 million in negotiations with the steering committee. Staff said the average increase for a residential Mid-Tex customer would be about $7.83 per month and about $25.73 per month for the average commercial customer.
Leigh Ferguson, an Atmos representative, said the company’s investments are systemwide and that upgrades are intended to maintain safety and reliability. Staff shared a handout with city-specific investment figures for Hurst.
Clayton said about 75% of Hurst is served by Atmos. The council adopted the resolution after a motion and second; the motion carried by voice vote.
The settlement resolves the city steering committee’s review of the Mid-Tex filing for 2025; staff and the Atmos representative did not outline specific changes to individual customer bills for Hurst beyond the average figures presented.
