The Janesville Common Council unanimously adopted a resolution on Sept. 8 recognizing Sept. 15–Oct. 15, 2025, as National Hispanic Heritage Month in the city of Janesville.
Vice President Squire moved to adopt File Resolution 2025-2372; Council member Nino seconded the motion. Council members praised the recognition as an opportunity to celebrate contributions by Hispanic residents and to highlight local businesses.
Representatives from the Wisconsin Immigrant Support Network Coalition accepted the proclamation at the podium. A coalition speaker thanked the council and described the recognition as meaningful, saying it “shows the power of working together to create a city where everyone feels valued and welcome.”
The resolution text, read during the meeting, recites the federal history of Hispanic Heritage observances, notes contributions of Hispanic Americans in multiple fields and encourages residents to celebrate cultural and professional contributions during the designated month. The council vote was announced as unanimous.
