FSUSD opens applications to fill Trustee Area 7 vacancy; one applicant filed as deadline remains Oct. 3

At a special board meeting prior to Sept. 18 the board voted to proceed with an appointment process. Applications opened on the Monday before the Sept. 18 meeting; as of the meeting one application had been submitted and the district’s application deadline is Oct. 3. The superintendent’s office said no late applications will be accepted and that the district website contains a Trustee Area 7 map and additional information.
Why it matters: The appointment will fill a board seat that represents a portion of the district near Laurel Creek; whoever is appointed will serve the remainder of the term through November 2026 unless the board later opts for an election.
Next steps: The board scheduled a special meeting to interview and appoint the new trustee (the board mentioned a special meeting on Sept. 9 in the superintendent’s remarks, and the superintendent indicated interviews/appointment would occur in an October special meeting to be posted).
