The Evansville City Human Relations Commission voted Wednesday to provide a $2,500 sponsorship to the Community Action Program of Evansville’s (CAPE) 60th anniversary event and a $100 sponsorship to the NAACP’s inaugural golf tournament.
Commission Chair Dan Carweil called the meeting to order Sept. 24 and introduced the two community sponsorship requests from CAPE and the NAACP. Commissioner Juontes Phelps moved an initial sponsorship at the $1,000 “silver” level for CAPE; that motion was withdrawn after members debated raising the amount. Commissioner Gina then moved to fund CAPE at the $2,500 level; Commissioner Regina Robinson Ungar seconded the motion and the voice vote passed.
