Evansville HRC approves $2,500 sponsorship for CAPE, $100 for NAACP golf outing

The CAPE request listed tiers of support. As presented by staff, the “Hope Diamond” level was $10,000, a diamond sponsor level (amount not specified in the packet), a gold level of $2,500, silver at $1,000 and bronze at $500. Diane (Executive Director, Human Relations Commission) described typical benefits for the lower levels: “The silver sponsor is logo featured on select event signage and website, social media mentions, leading up to the event, and 6 event passes. The 500 is, name listed on event signage and website recognition on social media and 3 event passes.” Diane said the event on Nov. 6 will mark CAPE’s 60th anniversary and that support “will help cover even at cost, raise vital funds to continue CAPE’s mission of promoting economic and social self sufficiency for low income residents in Vanderburgh County, Posey, and Gibson Counties.”
Commissioners debated whether to limit support because CAPE serves multiple counties outside Evansville’s jurisdiction. Several commissioners said CAPE’s long-term community work justified a larger sponsorship, and others preferred a smaller, targeted contribution. After withdrawing an earlier $1,000 motion, the commission approved the $2,500 sponsorship.
On the NAACP golf event, Diane described sponsorship tiers that ranged from $5,000 at the top level down to $100 for an individual player; she also noted the commission had recently supported the organization’s annual dinner. Commissioner Samantha Venti proposed a $100 sponsorship for the golf tournament; Donovan Bibbs seconded that motion. The motion carried on a voice vote.
