Greenwood awards $556,000 contract to All Star Paving for Westside Park courts

The Greenwood Parks and Recreation Board on Sept. 9 awarded a contract to All Star Paving Incorporated to renovate the Westside Park courts, with the board-recorded contract amount corrected during the meeting to $556,000.
City staff reported two bids for the project; All Star Paving was the lowest responsive bidder at $556,000 compared with a competing bid of roughly $671,150. A board member moved to award the contract to All Star Paving, the motion was seconded by Board Member Crooks, and the board approved the award by voice vote.
During the vote a board member clarified the correct contract number: “It’s 556. I think I said 559,” and the chair repeated “556,000.” Staff told the board $250,000 for the project was already in the city’s offering and that the remainder of the contract will be funded from impact fees. The board was told demolition of the existing courts has been scheduled and that demolition will likely take about a week before paving begins.
The board specified the contract award is subject to final drafting and review by the City of Greenwood Legal Department.
