Board approves OnRamps dual-enrollment interlocal agreement with UT Austin

The San Benito Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to approve an interlocal agreement with the University of Texas at Austin to bring the OnRamps dual-enrollment program back to the district for the 2025–26 school year.
"This is an opportunity to provide through UT of Texas, dual enrollment opportunities to some of our students," Assistant Superintendent Delia Cornett said during the meeting, noting that teachers supporting the program attended OnRamps training over the summer and that students are already enrolled to participate.
Superintendent Fred Perez introduced the item; Trustee Coronado moved to approve the interlocal agreement and Trustee Israel Villareal seconded. The motion passed by voice vote.
District staff said the OnRamps program will provide college-level coursework and dual-enrollment credit through UT Austin; staff training for the program has been completed and courses will be taught by certified district teachers who participated in UT training.
The board did not allocate new funds on the record at the meeting; the interlocal agreement authorizes the district to offer OnRamps courses under the UT program for 2025–26.
