Sheriff’s office reports 263 calls for service in August; highlights thefts, DWI and warrant arrests

A representative of the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office reported to the Oak Grove City Council on Sept. 8 that deputies responded to roughly 263 calls for service in August.

The sheriff’s summary listed categories and counts: five thefts; one harassment‑by‑communication complaint; two personal‑injury accidents; 12 property‑damage accidents; 36 medical calls; 27 animal complaints; 13 alarms; three misdemeanor arrests; one DUI arrest; two warrant arrests; 39 traffic stops; and 24 traffic arrests.

The presenter described several incidents in more detail: a mailbox theft in the Ivywood area that led deputies to juvenile suspects; a separate theft in the 3000 block (no suspects at the time); multiple warrant arrests where deputies located people known to have outstanding warrants; and a DWI arrest on Aug. 22 after a stop‑sign violation that led to the discovery of an open bottle and a breath result of 0.11; the driver was charged with DWI, no insurance and open‑container violations.

Council members asked whether deputies track Narcan/Naloxone uses or overdose responses; the sheriff’s representative said the office does not track Narcan deployment centrally and that gathering that information would require mining incident reports.

The sheriff's office representative also invited the community to a sheriff’s open house on Sept. 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the sheriff’s facility to see equipment and meet deputies.
