Board approves $132,490 LED lighting grant budget amendment

Eric Patton, presenting the item, said the grant is an energy-efficiency award for $132,490 and requires no local match. "The purpose of that grant is to convert old non LED to LED lights. It's an energy efficiency grant. So there's no cost match, and we're planning on using the entire portion of that grant on the material side so that'll maximize our effective use of it. And we'll use our in house crews to do the actual installation," Patton said.
Patton asked the board to move the grant funds into the utility’s capital account so the city could issue material purchases and begin installation. The board’s motion to approve a budget amendment increasing the reimbursable-projects amount by $132,490 was moved by the chairman and seconded; the motion passed on a voice vote, "Motion carries 6 0." No member recorded a recorded roll-call vote in the transcript.
The board did not attach additional conditions to the budget amendment; Patton said the revenue portion of the grant would be billed to the city to cover the cost of the materials. The utility will use in-house crews for installation and will apply the full grant toward materials.
