Hardee County Value Adjustment Board ratifies attorney, approves tax-roll extension and sets tentative January hearings

The Hardee County Value Adjustment Board completed routine organizational business Sept. 9, ratifying its attorney, authorizing the chair to sign documents on behalf of the board, approving the initial certification of the tax assessment roll to allow tax notices to issue, and setting tentative petition hearings for January 2026.

During the meeting Rinki Parwani was ratified to serve as the Value Adjustment Board attorney for petitions filed in the 2025 petition year. Novi Flores, identified as chairman and a representative of the Hardee County Board of County Commissioners, presided over the meeting while members confirmed the appointment by voice vote.

The board approved a request from the tax collector and an accompanying resolution adopted earlier by the Hardee County Board of County Commissioners on Aug. 21, 2025, to extend the tax roll and allow the tax collector to issue tax notices before the Value Adjustment Board finishes hearings. As staff explained, the extension prevents a delay of tax-bill issuance beyond the typical Nov. 1 mailing date if the pending hearings would otherwise be the only reason to delay.

Members also authorized the chair to sign all necessary documents on behalf of the board and approved the meeting agenda and prior hearing minutes. Board staff noted that the tentative schedule for petition hearings is set for Jan. 26 and Jan. 27, 2026, though those dates could change and will be finalized when petition counts are confirmed. Staff reported eight petitions filed as of the Sept. 9 meeting; earlier in the packet materials the count had been two but was updated during the meeting.

All motions on the organizational items passed by voice vote without recorded opposition. The board recessed to its next meeting, tentatively planned for Jan. 26, 2026.
