The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors continued a public hearing on proposed rate and charge changes at Buchanan Field and Byron Airports to Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.
Greg Baer, the county's airports director, asked the board to continue the item after staff discovered that Consumer Price Index (CPI) adjustments from the prior ordinance round were not included in the materials posted for the hearing. Baer asked for additional time to prepare an updated rate schedule that incorporates the missing CPI changes.
County counsel confirmed that, because the board continued the item to a time‑and‑date certain, the original noticing for this hearing will remain effective for the new date and no additional 30‑day notice was required. The board moved, seconded and approved the continuance on a 4–0 vote.
The board directed staff to return with an updated packet that includes the CPI increases and a corrected rate sheet for consideration on Oct. 7. The airports director said he expected the corrected materials to be ready for the new hearing date.
The continuation means no new airport rates or charges will take effect until the board considers and acts on the revised proposal at the October hearing.
