Below are the principal formal actions recorded at the Sept. 9 Washoe County Board of County Commissioners meeting.
- Proclamation: The board adopted a proclamation recognizing World Frontotemporal Degeneration Awareness Week (Sept. 21—28). The motion was moved, seconded and passed unanimously.
- Consent items: The commission approved consent agenda items 8a1 through 8c2 with a single motion; the motion passed unanimously.
- Block vote: The board adopted the proposed block vote to consider items 9, 14 and 15 together; the motion passed unanimously.
- Appointment: Pursuant to state law, the commission appointed a member to the Washoe County Planning Commission serving concurrently on the Capital Improvement Advisory Committee (term beginning retroactive to 07/01/2025 through 06/30/2029). The motion to appoint the selected candidate was moved and seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
- First readings: The board approved three first readings of ordinances acting as follows (motions were made to approve each bill as presented in the staff report): - Bill 19-35: Amend development agreement for St. James Village (TM5-2-92) to extend mapping deadlines. - Bill 19-36: Amend Washoe County Code chapter 110 to increase maximum density for multifamily in the Crystal Bay Condominiums regulatory zone special area. - Bill 19-37: Adopt a development agreement for Peterson Village (tentative map WTM M21-007) extending final-map deadlines. Each first-reading motion passed on the record.
- Master plan/regulatory zone amendment (public hearing, item 16): The board adopted the master-plan amendment WMPA 25-0002 and regulatory zone amendment WRZA 25-0002 for a 5.75-acre parcel at 700 Harper Court to correct a split designation (conservation and residential) and make it 100% residential; the motion passed unanimously. The adoption is subject to final TRPA conformance and review as required for Tahoe-area plan changes.
Several items noted during the meeting will return to the board for formal approval or additional review, including voting-system contract decisions, migration to a state mail-ballot print vendor, the Homeland Security grant (pending federal action) and any grant acceptance related to jail remodeling.
