Middletown Township supervisors voted unanimously to grant land development approval for a 1,600-square-foot MRI wing expansion at St. Mary Medical Center, 1201 Langhorne‑Newtown Road.
Township staff presented the plan as a relatively small addition to the existing medical center campus. The plan received a unanimous recommendation of approval from the township Planning Commission on Aug. 6, and staff said consultants completed a standard technical review with comments to be addressed as a condition of approval.
Staff noted three waivers associated with the approval: a partial waiver to omit parking calculations from the plan zoning table, a partial waiver from requiring Middletown Township’s Arbor Commission approval for the landscape plan, and a full waiver allowing combined preliminary/final approval on this submittal. Design professional Paul Schmall and the applicant’s engineer were on hand to answer technical questions.
Supervisor Kiesak moved for approval with standard conditions — including full compliance with the Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance and the Zoning Ordinance unless relief is granted — Ms. Kane seconded, and the motion carried 4-0.
During public comment, a resident who lives nearby asked that Saint Mary’s remove an outdated sign; staff said the concern had been forwarded to the hospital.
Ending: The applicant must address outstanding review comments before final permits are released; staff recommended and the board approved conditional land development plan approval (SLD No. 25‑5).
