On Sept. 9 Monroe City Council approved a package of appointments and partial-term replacements for city boards and commissions. Mayor Pro Tem Tim Anthony presented the citizens appointment committee’s recommendations and read the slate aloud; council then moved to approve the appointments by hand-raise vote.
The approvals recorded on the agenda and read into the record include (term begin and end dates as presented):
- Bridal/Welfare Committee: Jennifer L’Oreal, full term, 01/01/2025–12/31/2028. - Board of Adjustment: Miles Cooley, partial term replacing Keaton Deal, 01/01/2025–12/31/2028. - Airport Advisory Commission: Chris Cooper, partial term replacing Lane Kuzai, 01/01/2025–12/31/2026. - Airport Advisory Commission: Rob Fulton, full term replacing Howard Heather, 01/01/2025–12/31/2028. - Committee on Disabilities: Jonathan Bell, ex officio member, 01/01/2025–12/31/2028. - Homeless Initiatives Committee: Mal Cooley, partial term, 01/01/2025–02/28/2026. - Monroe Tourism Development Authority: William Hessner, at-large representative, 01/01/2025–12/31/2028. - Monroe Tourism Development Authority: Jennifer Moore, restaurant representative, 01/01/2025–12/31/2028. - Parks and Recreation Commission: Jose Ayaya, full term replacing Ken Graham, 01/01/2025–12/31/2028. - Parks and Recreation Commission: Deborah Hudspeth (recorded as "Hudsoncock" in meeting audio), full term replacing Rhonda Griffin, 01/01/2025–12/31/2028. - Parks and Recreation Commission: Janine Sowell, full term replacing Tiffany Wilson, 01/01/2025–12/31/2028. - Planning Board: Alicia Deberry, partial term as a regular member, 01/01/2025–12/31/2028. - Planning Board: Robin Holland, full term as an alternate member, 01/01/2025–12/31/2028.
Tim Anthony moved to approve the appointments displayed on the screen; a second was recorded and council approved the slate by hand-raise. The council did not discuss individual nominees at length during the vote.
