Yale will host a free rare-disease research symposium on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, and RDAC members were encouraged to attend and share the event with colleagues. The meeting organizer said the event is open to Yale faculty, clinicians and students and that non-Yale clinicians, researchers and trainees from across the state are welcome.
RDAC co-chair Michelle Spencer Manzan described the event as an opportunity to convene scientists and clinicians for short presentations and open discussion with the goal of fostering collaboration across institutions. She said the first meeting will be a learning exercise and that future symposia could rotate among Connecticut institutions.
Colleen Brunetti recommended including a patient speaker at future events, saying "nothing about us without us" and noting that patient perspectives can help clinicians and researchers understand everyday impacts.
The organizer confirmed the date is Friday, Oct. 17, and said registration is free; a flyer and registration link were shared in the meeting materials and the RDAC chat. Council members discussed outreach to other centers (Connecticut Children's, Jackson Laboratory, UConn) to encourage cross-institutional participation.
Ending: The RDAC chair said she would circulate corrected event information and encouraged members to share the symposium announcement with relevant colleagues. No formal RDAC endorsement or funding decision was made at this meeting.
