Commissioners award $83,008 bid for Public Safety Center security gates

The Moffat County Board of Commissioners voted Sept. 9 to award the contract to install electronic gates at the county Public Safety Center to Taylor Fence for $83,008.46.
Public works staff said the county issued a request for proposals and held a pre-bid meeting on Aug. 14; one contractor attended and Taylor Fence submitted a bid at the public opening. Staff reported the county budget contains approximately $180,000 set aside for the project.
A commissioner moved to award the bid to Taylor Fence in the amount of $83,008.46; the motion was seconded and carried by unanimous voice vote. During discussion one commissioner said the new gates "look very nice" and would increase security at the facility.
Staff indicated the quoted amount may change if the scope is altered during construction; the county will proceed with awarding the contract and scheduling installation.
