Santa Rosa arts committee unanimously approves FY25–26 annual work and expenditure plan

The Art and Public Places Committee unanimously approved its fiscal year 2025–26 annual work and expenditure plan at the Sept. 8 meeting.
Staff presented the plan, which outlined program priorities and estimated expenditures for the year including a temporary Art Walk ($55,000 estimated artist payments and related materials), an arts roundtable initiative ($5,000 set-aside for materials and outreach), marketing and outreach, a public art mapping project, plaques and QR codes for the permanent collection, an intern and the recruitment of a full-time arts and events specialist, and potential master-plan consultant scoping. Staff reported an available public art fund balance of about $516,000 (net of encumbrances) and noted existing encumbrances including prior project allocations.
Committee member Kristen moved to approve the annual work and expenditure plan; Nancy seconded. The motion passed unanimously when the committee voted.
Staff said the plan is intended to support a mix of temporary and permanent programming, address maintenance of the city’s collection of approximately 82 works, and begin scoping a public art master plan update. Staff also noted ongoing projects including the Asawa panels (first Santa Rosa panel pouring underway), an RFP for Colgan Creek mural concepts, and various other mural and exhibition activities.
