Commissioners raise Entergy reliability concerns, announce Power Grid Summit Sept. 25

Commissioner Stans told the Public Service Commission that Entergy Mississippi had experienced several recent infrastructure failures — including a transformer incident that closed Highway 18 for hours — and asked his colleagues to support a hearing on the company’s service reliability in the Central District.
“Whenever we looked at outages… we didn't know if we were looking at Holly Springs or if we were looking at Entergy because of the unreliable service and the disinvestment,” Stans said, summarizing complaints from constituents. He asked commissioners to join him in a hearing to hear from his constituents about distribution conditions.
Commissioners responded that distribution-level reliability is a priority and pledged to work together on hearings and oversight. The commission also announced a Power Grid Summit scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Wolfolk Building from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., aimed at discussing the condition of the state’s grid and strategies to improve delivery to end users.
No formal vote was taken on a hearing request at the meeting; commissioners said they would coordinate follow-up actions and may hold additional hearings as needed.
