Board approves personnel items; longtime teacher Mark Reethman to retire after 30 years

The Troy School District Board of Education approved September personnel items that included resignations, leaves of absence, new hires and supplemental contracts.
Superintendent staff highlighted the resignation of science teacher Mark Reethman, who began teaching in Troy in 1995 and is concluding a 30-year tenure in the district. Reethman most recently taught physical science and dual-credit (CCP) physics courses; administrators said finding a qualified replacement for the CCP physics position will be a priority.
District administrators also outlined new hires to fill elementary and junior-high vacancies, several short-term substitute resignations and leaves related to child-rearing. The board approved an amendment to a director’s contract and several mentor and supplemental assignments for the school year. Administrators praised principals for filling approximately 10 instructional openings before school started and said they expected the final open behavior-support position to be posted and filled by the next meeting.
Personnel actions were approved by motion and recorded in the meeting minutes.
