Mister Keith described the tuition-assistance policy as a reimbursement program restricted to full-time employees for accredited courses “directly related to the position that the employee holds or a position they would potentially apply for,” and said employees must file a notice of intent before the fiscal year budgeting process. The policy requires department-head and city approval before reimbursement and includes a commitment that employees remain employed with the city for four or five years after receiving assistance; failure to meet that commitment triggers full reimbursement to the city.
