Resident asks audit committee to review behavioral health audit; chair to consult corporation counsel

Rick Schultz of Wauwatosa, speaking during the meeting's public comment period, said he had questions about an audit of the Behavioral Health Services Administration that had been released to the Behavioral Health Board on Sept. 5 and asked how that audit might be shared with the county board. Chair Supervisor Martin said the audit committee could seek guidance from corporation counsel and invited Schultz to provide the report to the chair so the committee could review options for placing the item on a future agenda if legally permissible.
Schultz said the audit was triggered by an incident involving a competency hearing and a Chapter 51 detention; he asked how the Mental Health Board's internal audit would find its way to the rest of the county. The chair replied the committee needed corporation counsel's guidance before discussing items not already on the agenda and offered to follow up with Schultz and counsel about whether the committee can request or receive the report. No formal action was taken at the meeting on the matter.
