The Nassau County Development Review Committee reviewed a variance request to reduce required driveway spacing on Black Rock Road on Tuesday, Sept. 9. Caleb Hurst, development services, said the applicant seeks to reduce the spacing requirement from 100 feet to 37 feet because an easement and the required culvert location limit where a driveway can be placed.
The item drew no substantive departmental objections. Constance Lay, Building Department, said she had no comment; Stephanie Keiser, Planning, had no comment; Rodney Nesler, Health Department, had no comment; and Thomas Ford, Fire Rescue, had no comment. Chair Tim Davidson, Development Services, said the committee would forward the departments’ feedback to the county engineer for a final determination.
The request concerns separation between an existing adjacent driveway and a new driveway for the subject site. Committee members did not record a vote at the meeting; the county engineer will decide whether to grant the variance under applicable county standards.
No formal timeline for the engineer’s decision was given during the meeting.
