The Wichita Falls ISD Board of Trustees approved a proposed applicant pool submitted by Denise Williams, director of human resources, and accepted the list of employee resignations and retirements presented since the last work session. Trustees voted to accept the applicant pool 7'0'0'00.
Williams said the applicant list included multiple teacher candidates, one alternate certification candidate, and other positions such as occupational therapists. Trustees asked questions about grant-funded positions and classroom staffing; Williams identified the number of teachers required for one campus and noted ongoing recruitment work.
Separately, the board addressed appointments to the appraisal district board. Trustees nominated Jeff Kent and approved the nominations on a recorded voice vote of 7'0'0'00. Staff explained the appraisal district appointment process and that Wichita Falls ISD carries a significant share of votes because of its budget contribution. Trustees discussed the merits of local versus neighboring appointees and were told appraisal district board members vote on the appraisal district's operations, not as representatives of a single locality.
Why it matters: Approving an applicant pool and appointing appraisal district board members affect staffing decisions and local property tax administration oversight. Trustees recorded unanimous support for the personnel and appointment actions during the special session.
