Board votes to keep Liberty Park pool open through September; scheduling and public access left to staff

The Adams County Board of Supervisors voted to keep the Liberty Park pool open through September after a delegation of residents asked the board to extend access past Labor Day.
Resident Maxine McAndrews, speaking as a representative of the group that came to the meeting, told the board, "We're just trying to keep the pool at Liberty Park open through the month of September." She said a small number of lifeguards are available and that the city had indicated preliminary approval.
Board members moved and seconded a motion to keep the pool open through September; the motion carried. The board did not set detailed hours at the meeting. Board members and staff noted lifeguard availability was limited because many seasonal staff have returned to school; McAndrews said two high-school lifeguards who are seniors agreed to provide coverage after classes on certain days and that the group only needs one lifeguard for the planned schedule.
The county and a city representative had been in communication, and board members said they would confirm with pool manager(s) the exact hours and whether the city nd county intend the extension to include general public hours in addition to senior programming. At the meeting the board did not adopt a separate resolution governing public access or hours; staff were directed to finalize operational details and report back.
Supervisors thanked the residents for coming to the meeting and approved the motion by voice vote.
