Cerritos council names Brian Hughes to Economic Development Commission, forms Bellflower USD ad hoc group

At the Sept. 8 special meeting the Cerritos City Council approved several personnel and organizational items by unanimous votes.
The council nominated and approved Brian Hughes to serve a two‑year term on the newly formed Economic Development Commission; the commission will begin meeting on Sept. 9. Mayor Frank Yokoyama made the nomination; Councilmember Mark Pulido seconded the appointment and the motion passed 5-0.
Separately, Mayor Yokoyama announced the establishment of an internal ad hoc working group to serve as a liaison on matters related to the Bellflower Unified School District and appointed himself and Councilmember Mark Pulido to that group. The council approved that appointment 5-0.
The council also approved the consent calendar by a 5-0 vote. Staff said the city clerk's office will administer oaths of office to appointees prior to participation in commission meetings if the appointees are present, or will schedule oath administration if not.
