Edmond City Council approved a staff recommendation to accept a proposal and purchase playground equipment from ACS Playground Adventures for Westborough Park in the amount of $150,000.
Brad Rainey, Parks and Recreation Director, described the existing playground as one of the park system’s most in need of improvement and said staff ran an engagement event at Barnett Splash Pad where children and families voted on preferred designs. Rainey said the funding source is the park tax, a permanent one‑eighth cent sales tax, and that installation is expected over the winter with the playground ready in spring.
Council approved the purchase 5-0 after a motion and second.
Ending: The Parks Department will schedule installation and follow typical permitting and inspection; staff mentioned a pending TSET grant application that could support additional park upgrades if awarded.
