A staff presenter clarified the proposal does not create district ownership of therapy animals. "This is not the actual ownership of a therapy dog…this is having somebody who already has ownership and all the certifications that has the ability to come into the school with their therapy dog," the presenter said, explaining the policy's intended scope. The presenter also said the policy language will be adjusted by the policy committee before a second reading at the next meeting.
