The Town of Speedway will host a Public Safety and Service Community Day at Leonard Park on Thursday, Sept. 11, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Parks Director Tammy Smith announced.
The event is intended to give residents a chance to engage with municipal departments and community groups. The Speedway Police Department and Speedway Fire Department will attend; the announcement said the police would be grilling hot dogs and the fire department would provide waters and chips. Town leaders will serve ice cream, Speedway Public Library will sponsor a foam cannon, and the town's vehicles and equipment will be on display, Tammy Smith said.
"I'm here at Leonard Park to invite you to this year's Public Safety and Service Community Day," Smith said. "We will have some of the town's vehicles and equipment out for people to see up close and personal. The Speedway Police Department will be on hand grilling hot dogs. The Speedway Fire Department will be providing waters and chips." Smith also said several local groups, services and businesses would be on hand to talk with residents.
The announcement did not specify whether there is a cost to attend or if registration is required. Additional logistical details, including parking and accessibility accommodations, were not provided in the announcement.
The Parks Department framed the event as an opportunity for family-friendly outreach and public-safety engagement; no formal council action or funding details were included in the remarks.
