The Tigard‑Tualatin School District Board of Directors approved three contracts and formally nominated board members to Oregon School Board Association (OSBA) roles during its Monday meeting.
Field lighting: The board unanimously approved a contract with Musco Field Lighting Inc. under a KCDA cooperative purchasing agreement for the Tualatin Middle School field‑lighting project in an amount not to exceed $345,440. District presenters said the field’s electrical bases and related infrastructure were installed during an earlier project and the Musco proposal included a credit reflecting those preinstalled bases. City of Tigard land‑use approval for the lighting was obtained earlier in the bond process. District staff told the board the lighting fixtures are directional and designed to meet the city’s requirement of one foot‑candle or less at the property line; the district said it will hold an optional neighborhood meeting prior to installation despite not being required to do so by land‑use approval.
Land‑use consultant: The board unanimously awarded a land‑use consulting contract to Stantec for $167,267 for work on upcoming bond projects. District staff said Stantec has prior experience handling land‑use work for the district, including projects from the 2016 bond, and the firm submitted the lowest of three proposals received.
Nutrition services pizza contract: The board approved Pizza Hut as the district’s contracted pizza vendor for the 2025‑26 school year in an amount not to exceed $228,000. Nutrition services staff said the district will start the program at secondary schools with freshly delivered Pizza Hut pizzas that meet USDA school‑meal requirements (Pizza Hut adapts product and crust specifications to meet school nutrition rules). Staff said the vendor’s product is delivered fresh rather than reheated frozen pizza, and that the change will reduce kitchen labor and may improve participation; staff estimated total annual spending at roughly $228,000 for secondary schools if participation holds.
OSBA nominations: The board also voted to submit nominations to the Oregon School Boards Association. The board recommended Vice Chair Tristan Irvin for Position 16 on the OSBA Board of Directors; that motion carried 4‑0 with one abstention. The board likewise nominated Director Crystal Weston for Position 20 on OSBA’s Legislative Policy Committee; that motion carried 4‑0 with one abstention.
Other procedural votes: The board approved its meeting agenda and consent agenda earlier in the meeting; both motions carried unanimously.
Ending: District staff said they will schedule a neighborhood meeting about the Tualatin Middle School lights and proceed with contract finalization and project scheduling for the awarded contracts.
