BCWS (Berkeley County Water & Sanitation) staff presented bids for replacement of weirs on a primary clarifier at the Lower Berkeley wastewater treatment plant and recommended awarding the work to McElhond SCL Inc., the lowest responsive bidder. A BCWS presenter named Jimmy said McElhond is located in Savannah and that the company’s proximity should lower freight costs; committee members asked whether the low bid raised concerns about the contractor’s ability to perform, and staff said there were no concerns.
The committee also approved a professional engineering services contract amendment for the Camp Hall sewer project and a revised equipment list for a new water construction crew. All motions carried by voice vote during the meeting.
