Commission approves two one-day special alcohol licenses for October and December events

The Yankton City Commission approved two special-event alcohol licenses on the consent of the commission.
The first approval authorized a one-day on-sale liquor license for Checkers Inc., 407 Walnut Street, for an event at the Ruth Donahoe First Dakota Field House on Oct. 24, 2025. The commission voted aye on a roll call.
The second approval authorized a one-day malt beverage and wine retailer license for the Center at 900 Whiting Drive for Dec. 31, 2025. The roll call showed one abstention: Commissioner Birch stated he serves on the board of the Center and therefore abstained; the remaining commissioners voted aye and the motion passed.
Both actions were taken without recorded public comment and are documented in memoranda Nos. 25-164 and 25-165 on the meeting agenda.
