Wayzata board appoints absentee ballot judges and sets election-judge pay for Nov. 4 election

The Wayzata Public School District Board of Education adopted a resolution at its Sept. 8 meeting appointing absentee ballot board judges for the Nov. 4, 2025 school election and approved hourly pay rates for election workers.
District elections clerk Amy Geis told the board that absentee voting will begin Sept. 19 at the district service center, and that voters who prefer mailed ballots may request them through the Minnesota Secretary of State’s website. "Absentee voting does start on September 19 ... and will be held at the district service center at 13305 Twelfth Avenue North," Geis said.
The board voted to adopt the resolution appointing the named absentee ballot board judges and later approved the 2025 hourly rates for election judges. The hourly rates presented to the board matched levels used in 2023: head judges at $20 per hour, technical judges at $18 per hour and judges at $15 per hour. Administration said the district’s rates exceed those paid by the nearby city of Plymouth to aid recruitment.
Both actions were approved by roll-call vote.
The board and clerk discussed ballot logistics. Geis confirmed voters can request a mailed absentee ballot online and may either return it by mail to the county or bring it to the district office, where staff can spoil a ballot and re-issue one if a voter desires to vote in person instead.
