District facilities and operations staff provided a status update on maintenance, transportation, and the new football stadium during the Sept. 8 board meeting.
Maintenance staff said the district has 538 HVAC units across campuses including 146 at the high school; technicians perform preventive maintenance and filters are being changed at intervals depending on need. To date, maintenance reported 10 old HVAC units replaced and that two additional units were on order for Room 311 and the north hallway of Central Office.
Transportation staff said the department is fully operational at the new location, 1300 East Main, and is coordinating relocation of fuel and propane tanks; the district will work with the Railroad Commission for tank transport. Staff said the transportation site will downsize an existing propane tank to match current needs.
On construction, the district's stadium project manager reported the site is about 15% complete. Project details presented: - Building A (south concession): electrical and plumbing underground complete; structural footings being excavated. - Press box: pier drilling complete; elevator pit excavation and waterproofing complete; elevator pit forms and reinforcing steel started and scheduled for a near-term pour. - Building C (north concession): plumbing underground and structural footings complete; grade-beam excavation and steel in progress; foundation work scheduled for Sept. 17 for that building. - Field house and visitors concession: electrical and plumbing work ongoing; building pads and track excavation complete; infill materials staged for the track surface. - Site utilities: AEP transformer pad formed; 8-inch fire line and 4-inch water line installation underway; earthwork and field-event pads complete.
The project manager said the district is targeting a May completion date for the stadium but described that schedule as the program goal rather than a guaranteed completion date. Trustees asked about schedule risks and were told work on foundations, utility connections and AEP power tie-in are critical path items. No new board action was requested for the construction update.
Trustees thanked maintenance and construction staff for the progress report.
