The construction manager said bid package 2 (site panels) and package 4 (foundations) were scheduled in the fall; package 5 had just been issued for additional bidding and package 6 — containing remaining building construction items — was expected to be released in October. Foundation and footing work is expected to begin after contractors are selected; the team said it aims to have visible structural progress in 2026 once concrete panels and steel framing are delivered and assembled.
On site work already underway, speakers noted sidewalks, underground utilities and fencing were in progress and tennis‑court surfacing and lighting would follow once temperature conditions allow proper curing. The contractors said bus‑loop concrete pours and other early site work had been completed on tight schedules to keep the overall timeline on track.
District leaders also reviewed long‑range planning needs tied to the new school. A core team has begun drafting recommendations on school colors, mascot, grade splits and the district’s timeline for boundary decisions; the superintendent told the board the district expects to address colors and mascot during 2025‑26 and aims to make boundary decisions in May 2027 to allow new development patterns to become clearer before finalizing attendance lines.
Financial and bond context was discussed: the presentation noted the district has had seven bond issues since 2003 and that about $310 million in bonds has been approved overall; the district reported $159,365,000 in outstanding debt and listed scheduled principal payments rising in coming years, with multi‑million‑dollar principal ramps planned across the next 5–15 years.
Architects and construction managers said they would return with updated cost and schedule information as bid packages close and recommended the board approve upcoming contract awards on the Sept. 23 agenda so site work can proceed without delay.
