Council confirms slate of appointments to boards and commissions

At its Sept. 8 meeting Fayetteville City Council confirmed a list of nominees to multiple boards and commissions, including the airport committee, historic resources commission, planning commission and others; votes recorded as unanimous.
Fayetteville City Council on Sept. 8 approved nominations to multiple boards and commissions, the appointments committee reported. The committee presented recommended nominees for a broad array of advisory bodies, and council approved the slate unanimously.
Appointments announced included (selected examples): Paul Henson to the airport committee; Keith Bates Jr. to the animal control committee; Cindy Graham to the audit committee; Kevin Reed and Raymond Makar to the planning commission; and several nominees for the redevelopment, public arts, parks and recreation and senior citizens advisory commissions. The appointments committee chair read more than 70 names during the council meeting; the full list was approved by a single council motion.
Council members who served on the appointments committee said some nominees appear on multiple rosters because policy allows applicants to serve on more than one body if a board meets infrequently. Staff will notify successful appointees and provide onboarding information for each commission.
The vote was unanimous among council members present. No individual votes or recusals were called on the floor.
