AMR and sheriff report weekly call volumes; jail population and federal inmate contract negotiations noted

AMR reported 23 calls and seven transports for the week of Sept. 1–7. The sheriff reported 52 total prisoners, 59 911 calls and that a federal-inmate contract negotiation could raise prices for those beds; commissioners discussed the Wyandotte County bed-space renewal separately and approved the agreement.
During the Sept. 8 Linn County Commission meeting, ambulance provider AMR and the sheriff’s office presented weekly service statistics and detention updates.
Dawn Brooks, AMR, reported weekly totals for Sept. 1–7: "Centerville had 2 calls, 1 transport; The scene had 6 calls, 1 transport; Fontana, 1 calls, 1 transport; Lynn Valley, 1 calls, 0 transports; Mound City, 1 calls, 0 transports; Parker, 4 calls, 1 transport; Pleasanton, 8 calls, 3 transports — for a total of 23 calls and 7 transports this week," Brooks said.
In the sheriff’s report, the office recorded a total prisoner count of 52 with 13 releases for the past week and one inmate farmed out for a competency evaluation. The sheriff also reported 59 911 calls, 646 total calls for service, 31 new cases opened and six vehicle crashes for the period covered in the report.
The sheriff’s office also participated in the meeting discussion about renewing a bed-space agreement with Wyandotte County (separate action listed in votes). The sheriff noted that the county faces "stiffer competition out there for beds" and that a pending federal-inmate contract negotiation could result in a price increase for federal inmates; commissioners approved the Wyandotte County agreement at the meeting.
