She also announced a second public hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Fran Ryan Center, 865 East Broad Street, in District 7; the hearing will be streamed on YouTube and Facebook and will include presentations from the Department of Development, Building and Zoning Services, and Columbus Department of Water and Power.
Beatty said the hearings will include resident testimonies about how ADUs have been used to house family members and described the policy as an opportunity for community input into draft legislation. Those wishing to provide public or written testimony were instructed to email legislative analyst Leah Boyd by noon on Sept. 10 with the indicated subject line.
Beatty did not present final ordinance language at the meeting; the announcement emphasized outreach and technical briefings with city departments to explain infrastructure and permitting implications. The councilmember urged residents to attend and to use the council website to access the feedback form.
