The Waukesha Parks, Recreation and Forestry Board on Sept. 8 unanimously approved a recommendation to the Common Council to contract Laser Fusion to provide a laser light show at the 2026 Winter Jamboree.
Joanna, a parks staff member who presented the item, told the board “it is a laser light show, not a drone show,” and said the company previously produced the Jamboree show and has had multiple public requests to return. Joanna said the cost is $12,000 for three 15-minute shows and that the expense will be covered by sponsor dollars.
Board member Jennifer Wallner moved to approve the contract recommendation; John Schmitz seconded. The board recorded unanimous support with members Eric Hummer, Steve Johnson, John Schmitz, Jennifer Wallner and Erica Yass voting yes.
Joanna said the shows will be staged at Lowell Park: fireworks will remain on the Jamboree opening night, with the laser light show scheduled for Saturday in conjunction with the beer garden.
The board’s action was a recommendation to the Common Council on the proposed contract; the council retains final authority to approve or execute the agreement. No contract number or additional contractual terms were specified at the board meeting.
The board moved on to other business after the vote. The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Board is scheduled to meet next on Oct. 20.
