Aberdeen SD reports net loss of 18 students in open enrollment for 2025

Superintendent Dr. Guffin reported to the Aberdeen School Board on Sept. 8 that 17 students who live outside the district chose to enroll in Aberdeen schools for 2025, while 35 district residents enrolled elsewhere, a net loss of 18 students.
"We had 17 students who live outside of the Aberdeen School District to come to the Aberdeen School District and 35 outgoing. So a loss of 18," Dr. Guffin said, noting the loss was smaller than in previous years but still a decline.
Board members asked about notable sending communities; one member identified a family from Gettysburg among the incoming students. No policy changes or funding adjustments were proposed during the report.
